RED

So I made this for the Books into Disney Movies contest at Disney-Club. The contest was to make a poster for a book that you want to see into a Disney movie! Obviously (I hope) I did Little Red Riding Hood. I really wanted to do Red because I always thought the story was very different from the other fairy tales and am surprised they haven't done it yet. You could take this story so many places. I was thinking either Red herself could be the wolf and the moral is that, not everything is as it seems, or, that ones flaws shouldn't hold you back and make you special. My inspiration is i've been watching that TV show once upon a time and I thought it was cool how Red was a kick butt character and I really want to see that strong personality put into this character for Disney. They could open up with an innocent young girl but then showing her later as she grows up to be tough in the woods and caring for her grandma. She has a sense of responsibility and strength but then when the wolf starts to show through the woodsman enters and finds Red. Red has a tough time cooping with being the Wolf because she can't control it and doesn't want to hurt any one. She doesn't like that she's not in control. In the end the woodsman ends up falling in love with her and the kindness must be received from both Red and the Wolf to break the curse. Some challenges while making this was probably the character design. I didn't look at any past designs of red or the woodsman because I didn't want to be influenced by that so everything was made up from how I pictured it. Also I've never really drawn males before and so that was interesting finding the right body type for him. I started with a sketch and went digital. The thing with that is on photoshop the colors look different than when I uploaded it so I had to do several variations of this to get the right color... I still wish it was a bit more vibrant though. (you can see it in the icon version) I had a lot of fun with this though and hope that someday that they actually make this into a movie!

This is just a little song that I think Red could sing right before she changes into the Wolf. She doesn't want to but as the transformation happens she slowly allows it and wants it.
